Planting season is here...

We started planting our 2025 crop with soybeans on Thursday, April 10th. We planted soybeans for about a week and then switched one planter over to corn. Soil conditions have been excellent. We are currently 1/3 planted on corn and 3/4 on soybeans. We could have had more soybeans planted, but they are nonGMO and we were concerned with the windy days and forecasted heavy amounts of rainfall that we would not be able to get the preemergent herbicides applied before they came up so we quit planting and will wait for our next window of opportunity. Spraying has been challenging this year so far with many days having winds in excess of 20 mph. We have found that spraying right at daylight  when the winds are the calmest is our best opportunity, but it sure does make for long days with evenings spent in the planters. We hope everyone has a great Easter weekend with family.

Frist pass of soybean planting.

Planting into cover crop wheat...a first for us.

Getting the high-speed planter set on soybeans.
